Cancer Song of the Day from Brad Kronen's "Welcome to the Zodiac" Series
My song chosen for tonight's topic is very fitting, but it is all emotive and has no words. Wednesday we are discussing the Cancer personality and for them, home is something very important as well as the past and their roots. So I chose the song "Home" by David Sylvian as the Cancer Song of the Day. It has no lyrics but it perfectly fits how a Cancerian goes through life. The song starts with a basic and very simple melody line (motif) and it represents one's first home as a child when you were with your parents, and where hopefully most (I wish I could say all) had a sense of security there given that your emotional needs were being taken care of by Mom and Dad. The same melody line gets repeated over and over and every time something musically new is added to it, so that by the end of the song, it's an entirely different "thing" than how it started but it still has that melody line in the core that never ends. And so it goes with the Cancer, wherever they go in life they always carry with them that core essence of their emotional first home and roots and build upon it with each new life experience. This piece is both incredibly simple and profound at the same time and moves me every time I hear it. Enjoy!
