Scorpio Icon Description
From Brad Kronen’s “Welcome to the Zodiac” Series
Wednesday, July 1st, 2009
www.blogtalkradio.com (Very Hushed Whisper) "Is She a Scorpio?" (Very Hushed Reply) "Who?" (Impatient Hiss) "Whoopi Goldberg." (Annoyed Half Voice) "Why are you even asking?" (Full Voiced Indignant Summation) "Look at the mouth drop!!!!" This was me not only annoying my friend whom I went to see the movie "The Color Purple" back in the 80's with, but also fully disrupting the front and back rows next to us of the full house movie theater audience. But I will defend myself by ALWAYS being able to nail a Scorpio actor or actress simply by a paritcular facial gesture that I call the "mouth drop". An emotional expression that Scorpionic sculptor Auguste Rodin captures so painfully well in my favorite work of all time in this medium, "The Burghers of Calais". I highly recommend you listen to this 7 minute clip from the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia that explains how this piece came to be along with a full description of Rodin's intentions: http://avdream.bcc.edu:8080/ramgen/rodin/burghers.rm?usehostname The people of Calais openly rejected this piece stating that the sculpture did not depict the heroes from their town during the 100 Years War, but from the viewpoint of the Scorpio by allowing us to see this most emotionally vulnerable moment as these men express their genuine emotions facing Death itself but still moving forward knowing that their sacrifice will save their countrymen - nothing could be more brave or tragically heroic. Death is something that the Scorpio is inherently aware of throughout life, and how astounding that Rodin captures 6 very different but each very painfully real reactions of a human being facing his impending mortality! I personally see the Burgher holding the key, who from this angle is directly facing us as Rodin, himself, the man, the Scorpio. Why? Behold the mouth drop! I'm always surprised how many people interpret a Scorpio's behavior as cold or Un-emotional. How ironic, since I consider this the sign to fully take to heart the palette of deepest human emotions. The mouth drop stands out to me a mile away because this one small external muscular flattening and lowering of the corners of the mouth tells me that a Scorpio has now fully been swept away by the tsunami of emotions inside him or her; YET even though they are fully subservient to their deepest feelings it is only their lower face that flattens. Through their eyes at that critical moment one can see the actual raw naked soul which now gleams with the power of Life itself as it unflinchingly goes forward to bear the mantle of its fate.

We leave the etiquette manual for the Libran tea party behind us to delve to the deepest, darkest core of the human psyche and soul – Scorpio! I consider Scorpio, along with Aquarius to be BY FAR the 2 most misunderstood signs in the zodiac. Whereas Aquarius slips through the filing cabinet of categorization due to it’s quirkiness and “out there” qualities, Scorpio’s inherent intensity and understanding of power is misinterpreted; and (like Virgo) only their unevolved characteristics seem to be the only traits that come to mind: vindictiveness with a vengeance, jealousy that borders on the psychopathic, and a sex drive that only Caligula would seem to rival.
Being ruled by the planetary ruler of the underworld, Pluto, the Scorpio is truly the most “hardcore” of signs, committing only to things and people if their core emotional selves respond in its entirety. If there is ambivalence or doubt, the Scorpio simply will not bother. This “all or nothing” emotional approach is most definitely intense, but this makes the Scorpio the most loyal, steadfast and devoted of signs. If a Scorpio is on your side, then he will ALWAYS be able to be counted on, no matter how life threatening the circumstances and People, if you want a secret not only kept, but kept to the grave, blab it to a Scorp! With that said, Scorpio is truly THE survivor of the zodiac – able to endure the very depths of Hell itself if they believe something is right and true in their emotional core. (refer to Brad’s self reference).
Scorpio Fun Fact:
It’s time to shed light on these children of the night and give them credit where it aptly fits. Here’s a shocker, do you know what sign of the zodiac most of the Presidents of these United States were born under: it’s actually a tie between the 2 freaks of the zodiac – Aquarius and Scorpio! (The Scorp Prez’s: Adams, Polk, Hayes, Garfield, T. Roosevelt, Harding)
Surely a President of the United States can’t be THAT bad – so join me won’t you? SCORPIO! Wednesday @ 8 PM
***Dedicated to: Every Scorpio I know because ALL of you would push me out of the way to exit first if we were both stuck in a burning building, no matter how well you knew me.***

BRAD KRONEN’S “WELCOME TO THE ZODIAC” SERIES
Libra: The Perfect Partner of Charm or The Indecisively Imbalanced? Where: www. blogtalkradio.com When: Monday, June 29th, 2009 @ 8PM PST Two questions Brad has learned the hard way NOT to ask a Libran: “Where do you want to go for dinner?” “What movie do you want to see?” We emerge all spic and maybe a little too span from Virgo’s tidy realm and come upon the “Kings and Queens of Small Talk” - LIBRA! We have now reached the halfway mark of the zodiac where one turns from actions and interests based on solely the self and now incorporates “others” into the game plan. Libra rules the opposite house of the Ascendant, and the 7th house, or “Descendant” is concerned with partnerships, marriage and all one-on-one relationships in general. Now although I do say that Libras function best when they are in a stable, healthy relationship and although Libras come out of the womb with their wedding date and locale all ready chosen, this does not mean that they should lose any of their individuality by defaulting to “Honey, what do you think?” As a matter of fact, Brad heartily encourages Librans to be single for more than 4.5 minutes in order to cultivate their own Venusian gifts of natural charm, wit and effervescence! Libra Fun Fact: Referring to Brad’s jokingly (but not really) above mentioned “questions”, he is commenting on Libra’s tendency (more like state of being) to be indecisive with TRIVIAL matters. Saturn, the planet that rules judgement with any kind of large decisions be they moral, legal or otherwise is considered exalted, or works best in, the sign of The Scales, Libra. So bring your prettiest and hopefully not prissiest selves on Monday @ 8PM! *Dedicated to a Libran couple who exemplified true love – Alfredo and Gilda Marinaro. **Libras are a lot more than just Gwyneth Paltrow’s swan neck and alabaster skin, check out Brad’s choice of icon for Libra in his “Welcome to the Zodiac” Photo Icon Series! Two questions Brad has learned the hard way NOT to ask a Libran:
“Where do you want to go for dinner?”
“What movie do you want to see?”
We emerge all spic and maybe a little too span from Virgo’s tidy realm and come upon the “Kings and Queens of Small Talk” - LIBRA!
Libra Icon
from Brad Kronen’s “Welcome to the Zodiac” Series
Monday, June 29th @ 8PM, PST Libras are extremists. Libras are radicals. Libras believe in anarchy.............all in the name of Peace. The Gemini in me revels when anything in life can be seen through the lens of duality, and for the Scales of Libra duality is so much more than Up/Down, High/Low. Libra takes duality and makes it hardcore! Being ruled by Venus, the planet of beauty and art, one would assume that the animal under Libra's domain would be some sugar coated prissy thing of a beast like a Toy Pekingese Puppy or a Unicorn. Not quite. Snakes, Lizards and any kind of small reptile like iguanas are Libra's animals. What's even more astounding is the sheer volume of Librans who actually OWN a python, gila monster, or boa constrictor as a pet! Venus is also the planet of harmony and of peace itself and true, it is best not to argue or Heaven offend fight or wrastle in front of a Libra - these coarse actions will offend their delicate sensibilities! BUT when it comes to the Peace of their world being threatened or blatant injustice, The Libran becomes a radical extremist on an almost militant level.
*Mahatma Gandhi, a Libra, went to battle against both the imperialist British as well as the warring factions of India and pushed the envelope as far as humanly possible through the utilization of pacifism.
*Eleanor Roosevelt, a Libra, upon learning early on in the war of the Nazi "Final Solution" would disturb the peace of not only her husband's frantic daily agenda as President but would vocally interrupt Congress on a regular basis petitioning that the United States pass as many emergency VISAS as possible to allow any/every European Jewish child to enter this country. A deaf ear was turned to her bombastic disruptions none the same.
*Brigitte Bardot, a sex symbol and a Libra, who in the height of her attractive powers was likened to the goddess Venus herself, has risked her life on numerous occassions as well as has been imprisoned for disturbing the peace and breaking and entering - all in the name of animal rights.
*Gordon Matthew Sumner (aka Sting) rock icon and a Libra, horrified by the junta mass murders in Latin America not only became a major force for peace activism in defense of the victims from that area but also wrote the song “They Dance Alone” describing the peaceful but powerful act of retaliation Latin American women would take by holding photographs of their missing husband/son/brother and dancing with them in front of government municipal buildings.
To me, Libra's dualities are tipped into blissful balance by John Lennon. Born not only with a Libran Sun and an Aries Ascendant but his chart ruler, Mars the ruler of Aries in the sign of Libra, he made "Peace" much more than a pretty idea, he made it a state of constant action by using it as a battle cry through his declaration of war on war itself. When the Fab Four dissolved, this Libran did not bask in his luxuries and choose to be passive and lazy, he put both himself and his family at constant risk by organizing and attending "sit ins" imploring the end of the Vietnam War. By the sheer fact that he was a Beatle, throngs of media and press took note of these disrupitions of the peace in the name of peace, making John's actions global news. Jumping from that scale of extremes, Lennon's 7th house ruler which is naturally ruled by Libra was in the sign of Libra at his birth. The 7th house is the house of marriage and idealistic love and John's marriage to Aquarian Yoko Ono is the closest example of "true love" I can think of. You would be hard pressed to think of a couple either personally or in fame who simply ADORED each other like John and Yoko did. EVERY piece of film footage shows them not just in their own little world being lovebirds, to me they seemed to be in a state of romantic bliss when they were in each other's presence. One of my all time favorite Lennon songs is simply titled "O Yoko" where he'll sing about being in the bathroom shaving and his thoughts then being flooded with the words "O Yoko, my love will turn you on." Pure and unadulterated romantic sentiment! Lastly, the 7th house is also the house of 1 on 1 partnerships and the 1 on 1 song writing team of Lennon and McCartney is rivaled by none. As John was balanced in love with Libra's perfect partner of Aquarius, so too were his artistic endeavors in a perfect place when he and his fellow air sign, Gemini Paul McCartney would write songs together. McCartney himself once said in an interview that John would "restore equilibrium" whenever he would get stuck writing a song. One of the best examples of this was when Paul was in a state of impatient frustration writing the song "Getting Better All The Time". He was plunking out the line "I admit it's getting better." to which Lennon harmoniously balanced off with "It couldn't get much worse."))
John Lennon took his Libran sensibilities and applied them to the best as one human in this world possibly could on both ends of the scales by being both the enemy of war and the lover of love and musical beauty.)
