The House voted overwhelmingly yesterday to reprimand House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) and order him to pay an unprecedented $300,000 penalty, the first time in the House's 208-year history it has disciplined a speaker for ethical wrongdoing(Washington Post). Every time a African- American becomes politically powerful, is organised 'takedown' to remove or discredit him . Recall Mr Mike Espey who was ruined as secretary of agriculture because he accepted two tickets to a sporting event. Congressmen Bill Gray and Kweisi Mfume departed office under a cloud at the height of their power(Jamaica Observer). Today was Charlie Rangal' term at the rope.
