Moqtada al-Sadr, Iraq's Shia radical leader, has ordered his followers not to attack US troops before the completion of their pullout from the country, which is scheduled by the end of the year.

Commemorative events were held in the US to mark the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks, paying tribute to the thousands who died on that day.

Niger's government spokesman and Justice Minister Marou Amadou said Saadi Gaddafi was in a convoy along with eight others. Mr Amadou said the convoy was on its way to Agadez in northern Niger and that Saadi and his companions were being allowed in on humanitarian grounds.
