The phone rang in the church office but there was no one there at that moment to answer it, so she did. The male caller on the other end said, "three minutes", and hung up. Standing there perplexed, Carolyn was confused by what the caller meant. Then in the next moment as she stepped out of the office, something that sounded like “thunder” shook the building. Windows shattered as she was thrust to the floor, people were running and there was panic everywhere. The hours that followed spoke of the horror, anger, and immeasurable pain that changed the lives of innocent families and a community; a blood-spattered, unjustifiable pain that pierced a movement, shook a nation, and empowered a teenage girl to turn her tears into a passion that would ultimately touch an uninformed world about the poison and paralysis of racism.
