Can a pencil really last for 35 miles? How would you go about proving that fact makes for an inventive fun book, How a Lemonade Lid Changed My Summer by Sharon Solomon  discusses this fun adventure and the creation of her historic fiction picture books that make history come alive for adults as well as children.

We all know about Captain John Smith, but who was the real hero of the Jamestown Colony? Was there really a black female Buffalo Soldier? What is the special game a child plays when she goes for a walk with her Grandpa?

Sharon's latest book Lewis Tewanima Born to Run is a picture bio about a Hopi  who won the silver medal in the 1912 Olympics, another example of how her curiosity and story-telling skill creates books for all ages.

And to fill out this program, co-producer Don Canaan reads from his short story about growing up in The Bronx and his transition to puberty.
