The Rev. Dr. Gil Stafford is Vicar of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Parish and Chaplain for the Episcopal Campus Ministry at Arizona State University, Tempe. Ordained priest December 17, 2005 by the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Arizona, he has served his tenure as Vicar and Chaplain concurrently for six years. 

 After a career in professional baseball he graduated from Arizona State University. He had a three-year secondary teaching career in Coolidge, Arizona.

In 1980 he began a twenty-four year stint at Grand Canyon University. He served for twenty years as the head baseball coach winning three national titles. During that span he also handled several different administrative positions that eventually led him to serving as the University’s President for four years.

Along with his Bachelors and Masters degrees from ASU, he also holds a Ph.D. from Trinity Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary. 

Gil has taught courses and led seminars on Dietrich Bonhoeffer, leadership, and spirituality. His publications include works on Higher Education and leadership. He keeps blogs at staugustinetempe.blogspot.com and 4Peregrini.blogspot.com.
