On today's show my guest is Dr Roxanne Sukol. the founder of TeachMed, Inc., Dr. Roxanne Sukol has spent the past 10 years teaching about health and medical issues. Dr. Sukol works at the intersection of preventive medical care and health literacy. Special interests in nutrition and language give her a unique ability to make complex medical information easy to understand.
Dr. Sukol is a 1995 graduate of the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, with distinction in Biomedical Ethics. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and practices in Cleveland, Ohio. She served her internship and residency at MetroHealthMedicalCenter, and volunteered at Cleveland's Free Clinic during medical school.
Dr. Sukol is a 2nd place winner of the 2008 Award for Creative Nonfiction at the Baltimore Review for her essay, “Redefined Wheat.” She is a 1995 winner of the Essay Competition of the John Conley Foundation for Ethics and Philosophy in Medicine. The winning essay was published in May 1995 in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), the Honor Medical Society, and the recipient of numerous other awards for academic excellence and community service.
