Join us for the January 28, 2012 episode of "Book Talk" with Dr. Constance D. Shabazz.  The theme of this month's program will be the power of writing in healing from the trauma of abuse. This episdoe will  feature Brian W. Smith with his latest fiction book entitled "If These Trees Could Talk."  Two young boys find themselves linked in a unlikely bond based on their shared victimization at the hands of their mothers' boyrfriends. He will be joined by civil rights attorney and activist, Lora Jo Foo, who will discuss her book entitled, "Earth Passages: Journeys Through Childhood." Foo tells of her troubled childhood growing up in poverty in San Francisco's Chinatown.

Courtney Avery, who specializes in treating victims of abuse will also be joining the program to discuss how writing is a tool for healing.
