  • What Does God Say About That?

    in Books

Christianity today can be confusing. There are so many churches and it's difficult to know which one to go to, what each one believes and how to choose a church that is a true Bible-believing church that will teach only what God says.
There are many churches that do not teach exactly what the Bible tells us. There are churches that teach the Quaran and the Bible are the same and call this belief "Chrislam", this is wrong and a lie from the devil. Some churches teach that when you die there is no hell and that everyone goes to "Paradise", this is not true either. Some churches teach that "once saved, always saved", this is also a lie. Others teach that all roads lead to Heaven, but that is a false teaching as well. Only Jesus can lead you to Heaven. Some churches are called "mega-churches" because they have thousands of members and they teach only the "happy" things, or "feel good" sermons that don't tell the members that there are consequences for our actions after we die. There are even some who believe there is no God and when we die, that is the end and there is nothing more. Don't let any of these false beliefs leave you standing before almighty God and His Son, Jesus, to explain your life or why you didn't answer the call of the Holy Spirit to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior.
The Bible is very clear about salvation, Heaven & Hell; don't let false teachings rob you of your salvation, or lead you to believe that there is no Hell. Our spirits leave our bodies after death and we have to answer to God and account for our lives on earth - if you stand before God today, what will you say?
If you have questions you'd like to have answered live on the air, please send an email to marieontheradio@gmail.com.
    In Christ,
    Marie McGaha

    ALL GOOD DEEDS:
Lucy Kendall isn't a serial killer. She's simply lived her life in a strange mixture of carefully calculated moves and impulse decisions. Cracking the skull of the man who molested her sister and attacking her was impulse. Spending half her teenage years drinking and acting out were calculated cries for attention from her narcissistic mother followed by impulsive rages at her lack of concern.   The decade spent working in Child Protective Services before becoming a private investigator taught her two truths. One, CPS failed miserably in protecting children. Two, Lucy was more than willing to do it for them, meting out her brand of dark justice in spite of her own fear of death. But Lucy's crusade is compromised when a self-proclaimed sociopath offers to help—and leaves her no choice but to accept it.   When eight-year old Kailey Richardson is abducted, it sets off a chain of events linked to Justin Beckett, a suspect in a life-changing case in Lucy's past. The path she's chosen since dealing with Beckett has been dark and terrifying—but she has no idea just how deep she will go or where the twisted road will take her.    She's about to find out.   All Good Deeds is a dark psychological thriller featuring a strong female protagonist with a twisted sense of justice.

We will discuss the September's Book of the month which is Daring Greatly by Dr. Brene Brown.
Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable, or to dare greatly. Whether the arena is a new relationship, an important meeting, our creative process, or a difficult family conversation, we must find the courage to walk into vulnerability and engage with our whole hearts.
In Daring Greatly, Dr. Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on twelve years of research, she argues that vulnerability is not weakness, but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection. The book that Dr. Brown’s many fans have been waiting for, Daring Greatly will spark a new spirit of truth—and trust—in our organizations, families, schools, and communities.

  • Author Lacy Crawford Discusses Early Decision

    in Books

A delightful and salacious novel about the frightful world of high school, SATs, the college essay, and the Common Application—and how getting in is getting in the way of growing up
Anne Arlington is twenty-seven, single, and in demand: she is the independent "college whisperer" whose name is passed from parent to parent like a winning lottery ticket, the only tutor who can make a difference with the Ivy League.
Early Decision follows one application season and the five students Anne guides to their fates: Hunter, the athletic boy who never quite hits his potential, a kind, heavily defended kid who drives his mother mad; Sadie, an heiress who is perfectly controlled but at the expense of her own heart; William, whose intelligence permits him to dodge his father's cruel conservatism but can't solve the problem of loneliness; Alexis, a blazing overachiever whose midwestern parents have never heard of a tiger mom; and Cristina, who could write her ticket out of her enormous, failing high school, if only she knew how.
Meanwhile, Anne needs a little coaching herself, having learned that even the best college does not teach a person how to make a life.
In this engrossing, intelligent novel, Lacy Crawford delivers an explosive insider's guide to the secrets of college admissions at the highest levels. It's also a deft commentary on modern parenting and how the scramble for Harvard is shaping a generation. Told in part through the students' essays, this unique and witty book is so closely observed that it has been mistaken for a memoir or a how-to guide. A wise and deeply felt story, Early Decision reveals how getting in is getting in the way of growing up.

  • Author Kim Williams-Justesen - Death's Kiss

    in Books

Kim Williams-Justesen will be with us tonight to discuss her new Novel "DEATH'S KISS"!
Born and raised in Utah, Kim was the kind of kid whose mom had to come in and take the flashlight away so she would go to sleep. She has always been an avid reader and writer. Years of Public Relations work kept her writing at work. Then when her third kid came along, she decided to stay home and try her hand at writing professionally. In 2003, Kim earned her MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults at the prestigious Vermont College of Fine Arts, and the rest was - as they say - history.
In addition to writing, Kim loves being out of doors, whether it's in her garden picking raspberries, in the mountains camping or snowshoeing, or traveling to her favorite beach in North Carolina. Kim has taught writing and English courses at local colleges, and has presented various workshops on writing. She is the mother of three kids and grandma one grandkid. She has three cats and one dog, and one day she wants to have a pet snake!
