Authors on the Air and host Pam Stack are pleased to welcome to the studio Tori M. Eldridge, author of "Empowered Living Expanded Edition: A Guide to Physical and Emotional Protection". Here is what Tori has to say about her book: I’m so excited about speaking with you on Authors on the Air about my new Expanded Empowered Living: A Guide to Physical and Emotional Protection. As you can tell from the title, my goal is to integrate physical and emotional protection in the way that we integrate our body, mind, and spirit when we think of holistic health. Thoughts, words, and actions are instrumental to our overall well-being, but they are also essential to our sense of emotional empowerment and tangible physical protection. Unfortunately, most people—including authors and teachers—separate the emotional and the physical into two distinct and barely relatable camps. We can easily find books to help us with grief, addiction, insecurity, relationships, and business; or show us how to beat the stuffing out of an attacker and escape physical violence; however, none of them make any attempt to integrate all of these human challenges into a unified set of concepts and strategies. It is not their purpose, but it is mine. I want to integrate physical and emotional protection so seamlessly that we can practice strategies that empower us in our every-day lives and, by doing so, assimilate them so thoroughly that they protect us in the event of physical violence.

Scott Cluthe LIVE with Marc Bekoff Tues at 8 PM EST. His new book-Why Dogs Hump and Bees Get Depressed-The Fascinating Science of Animal Intelligence, Emotions, Friendship, and Conservation from New World Library, 2013
In 2009, Marc Bekoff was asked to write on animal emotions for Psychology Today. Some 500 popular, jargon-free essays later, the field of anthrozoology, the study of human-animal interactions, has grown exponentially, as have the data showing how smart and emotional nonhuman animals are. Here Bekoff updates selected essays that showcase animal cognitive abilities as well as empathy, grief, humor, and love. Humpback whales protect gray whales from orca attacks, combat dogs suffer from PTSD, and bees reveal thrill-seeking tendencies. While the science prompts questions about biomedical research and industrial agriculture, Bekoff's handling of it offers what Good Morning America veterinarian Dr. Marty Becker calls an "ethical compass".
Marc Bekoff is a former Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and is a Fellow of the Animal Behavior Society and a past Guggenheim Fellow. In 2000 he was awarded the Exemplar Award from the Animal Behavior Society for major long-term contributions to the field of animal behavior. Marc is also an ambassador for Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program, & also is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Jane Goodall Institute.

"My debut novel can soon be in your hands to delight, inspire, entertain, and rock your most inner, personal feelings of where a family can be in the world of parenting. Explore and experience the personal decisions one couple made to resolve a family crisis. Journey through a personal saga where a family crisis nearly dissvolves a marriage. This inspiring story line will delight your mind, touch your soul, entertain your thoughts, and rock you to pass this writing on to others. Are we beginning our journey as parents wisely, in the middle somewhere painfully struggling? Or are the little darlings out of college, married, gone, and we think we’re done? Are we ever really done?"
Wealth cannot buy peace … or direction.
For Cora Kensington, the Grand Tour was to be the trip of a lifetime. She discovered the family she never knew she had, and may have even found the love she longs for in Will. And yet her life has just become infinitely more challenging …
Hounded by journalists chasing the beguiling story of the newest American heiress, Cora fights to remain true to her past, reconcile her present, and still embrace her future. But as Will struggles with her newfound wealth, she begins to wonder if their love is strong enough to withstand all that threatens to pull them apart.
Complicating matters is the stubborn pursuit of Pierre de Richelieu and the increased demands on her time and attention. Cora must stand up for what she believes—regardless of how that might challenge current family and cultural norms—in order to remain true to who she really is.
And as she glimpses the end of the tour, Cora knows it’s time to decide Who and what defines her … and who and what does not.

If there was one word to describe Author Johnie Jay, it would be passionate. He has always been verbally passionate but it wasn't until his first creative writing class, in 9th grade, when he found that his passion, mixed with his vast and lucid imagination could create temporary getaways. That's all a book is really, a getaway from the world, an escape. "I want every word of every sentence to be evocative. If I can't make you feel, taste or smell every scene that I create then what's the point?" Romance and passion goes hand in hand but when you add to it detailed and vivid sex scenes you're left with an explosive concoction. He has blended all three harmoniously in his first romantic novel, Inevitable ActI (of II) set to release December 3. He looks forward to sharing his imagination with the world!
Authors on the Air welcomes, award-winning, international best-selling author CARLA NEGGERS. She sent a message to listeners: From the time I climbed a tree with pad and pen as a kid, I’ve always loved to write. Sixty-plus published novels later, I love to write as much as ever! I’m writing HARBOR ISLAND now, the fourth novel in my Sharpe & Donovan series, and I’m having a grand time. It’s like going on my own personal adventure…except it’s not dangerous for me as it is for my FBI agents Emma Sharpe and Colin Donovan. Emma’s grandfather, Wendell Sharpe, is a world-renowned art detective in Dublin. In fact, most of DECLAN’S CROSS takes place in Ireland, where Emma and Colin have been on break after the wild events of HERON’S COVE and SAINT’S GATE. They get swept up in an investigation when an American diver goes missing. The Irish research has been fascinating and fun. We fly out of Boston, so it’s easy to get to Ireland. We’ve been three times just this year! (I’m also good at catching deals on flights!) I’m planning an Irish writing retreat for next year. I’m also gearing up for the release of CIDER BROOK, the third novel in my Swift River Valley series. It’s set in western Massachusetts in a classic small New England town inspired by my own hometown. CIDER BROOK takes place in the fall. I can smell the cider bubbling on the wood stove now.

About the book
The Christmas Cats Chase Christmas Rats is a Seuss-ical tale for young children which builds upon the moral of the first Christmas Cats book to once again teach children a valuable life lesson.
In this second Christmas Cats adventure the lesson to be learned is: In life, always keep an open mind. Don’t accept stereotypes as true or let the unfounded opinions of others prevent you from finding out the truth for yourself. We all need to act without prejudice and learn to accept each other as individuals. The Christmas Cats learn that rats, too, should be judged as individuals.

CONSPIRATOR'S ODYSSEY - THE EVOLUTION OF THE PATRON SAINT
By A.K. Kuykendall In 1947, in the rural town of Roswell, New Mexico, a series of UFO’s crash-land in an area later designated as Area 51. A massive cover-up is launched. The intent: to conceal plans to strengthen the U.S. by using the genetic material from the recovered alien bodies to create the first wave of super-human soldiers. Skip forward to 1965: In order to field test the resulting serum, the strategic plot to invade Vietnam evolves, but the experiment fails miserably, as the soldiers who are tested suffer volatile unstable reactions making them prime targets for capture and slaughter. On October 3, 1998, U.S. Army Ranger Captain Kalista Flaker is given an order of assassination. Everything seems routine until she discovers that instead of destroying the enemy, her orders are to kill her very own; to eliminate any living POW’s remaining in Vietnam, then assassinate her own team of Army Rangers and Navy Seals. If all goes according to plan, Kalista is to be the sole survivor of the mission. Ignoring the commands of her superiors, Kalista manages to return from Vietnam with her comrade Lieutenant Buckner and a vial of blood slipped to her by one of the American POW’s prior to his elimination. With no detailed knowledge of the reasons behind the mission and a growing crisis of conscience as she’s forced to question her loyalty to a nation she’s sworn to protect, Kalista sets out on her own fact-finding mission. Her discoveries lead her to assume leadership of a secret organization sworn to defeat those who would conspire against the United States; even those who often are found within the agencies of the U.S. Government itself.
