Dean tells the story of Marina, who, years earlier, helped to pack up the treasures of the Hermitage as the Nazis approached Leningrad. Now an elderly woman in America, as Alzheimers is ravaging her memory, Marina finds herself living more in the past, while the events of her current life, her children and grandchildren slip from her grasp.
