Tonight Bonnie Kaye welcomes author Louis Hatchett, whose literary talents include a biography of Duncan Hines whom we all know as the "cake man." Louis certainly has compiled a book that talks about Mr. Hines and all of the many things he did besides make cakes! He is also involved in the Dime Store Novels, which were mass-produced, paper-covered booklets (as opposed to hard-cover books) that flourished between 1860 and 1915. Dime novels kept appearing on newsstands until at least 1929, but the original productions ceased after 1915, put out of business by a combination of factors, including a change in postal regulations and competition from fiction in magazines printed on a better grade of paper (“the slicks”). In addition, Louis has also done discographies for Al Jolson, Fred Astaire, and Dick Powell.
This show is a program for independent authors. It was created for the authors in the Books of Excellence Coop found at www.BooksofExcellence.com; however the show welcomes independent authors and entertainers as time permits
