Bonnie Kaye's guest tonight, Nelson O. Ottenhausen, a retired Army officer at the rank of Lt. Colonel, is an accomplished poet, novelist and short story author published nationally in periodicals and anthologies.  His book of poetry, Flowers, Love & Other Things (2005), is a selected collection of his own previous published poetry and short stories. He is also working with a movie company to produce his book, Jugs & Bottles, into a film for 2014.

One short story, A Fish Story, is featured in the popular Chicken Soup series, Chicken Soup for the Fisherman’s Soul now available in book stores.   

He has six published novels, Civil War II, (2004), The Blue Heron (2012), The Killing Zone: Evil’s Playground (2007), Jugs & Bottles (2009) The Sin Slayer (2010) and The Naked Warrior (2012).  He is presently working on three novels, Black Mist of the Trinity, the final book of a trilogy; Auggie, an historical novel about a young Russian girl, growing up in Japanese occupied China during World War II, based on the true life experiences of an acquaintance; and Little Hawk & Lobo, a fictional account of the grandson of the famed Sauk Indian warrior, Black Hawk.  

He is a co-creator and author in an upcoming new anthology series, Not Your Mothers Books-On Military Life by Publishing Syndicate of California, a series of books similar to the Chicken Soup books.
