Patriot Media Author Dr. Tom Gauthier, and Dari Bradley CEO, are honored to welcome Terry Baumfalk to our September 2nd broadcast of Military Author Radio.   www.militaryauthorradio.com

Welcome Aboard Terry Baumfalk!  A veteran of the US Navy, who served aboard the USS Juneau LPD 10 during the Vietnam War.  He is also the  author of: A Job to Do - Saluting heroes among us who work to defend America, an article published in the November 11, 2006 edition of the UAW Daimler / Chrysler National Training Center magazine,   " Tomorrow "  -  A - Veterans Day Special Issue.

Terry and his siblings were determined to ensure their father, William H. Baumfalk was awarded his Purple Heart for injuries he received during WWII.

William Baumfalk, served in the United States Navy aboard USS Natoma Bay, manning the gun mounts.  On July 5, 1945,  near the Philippine Islands, a Japanese kamikaze pilot set its sights on the flight deck of USS Natoma Bay CVE 62.  Gun mounted crew members in a furious burst of gunfire, managed to damage the left wing of the attacking airplane enough to send it crashing into the water just short of the flight deck.  Serving on the lower deck, William Baumfalk was injured when he was blown back against a steel wall as the impact from the crash hurled parts of the plane and fuselage into the ships lower decks. William, even though badly injured, refused a trip to sick bay and instead went right back to the gun mount to fight amid the ongoing combat.
