Welcome to this episode of The Struggle Continues.  This week we talk with our very special guest, Hilda Kathy Broady, about the debut of her Bronx Cable Television Program, "In My Shooze!"  Simply dynamic! "In My Shooze" premeired on 9/13/14 and to date, both showings were informative, riveting and raw.  I am not just saying this because I, Bones X aka Joe, was a guest on both episodes but because it is really good stuff; one of the few true reality TV! How can you watch "In My Shooze?"  The program airs on Saturdays  from 11:00 a.m.  - 12:00 p.m.  If you live in Bronx, NY, you may view it on: Optimum Cable Channel 68 or Verizon Fios Channel 34.  All others can view via the internet's Live Stream at its scheduled airtime, 11:00 a.m., at www.bronxnet.org then click on the Channel 68 & 34 icon. Joiin me as I congratulate Hilda on all of her hard work and efforts; it's been a long time coming but it's here!  By the way, keep watching "In My Shooze" and you will get a chance to see some of the powerful guests you have heard on episodes of "The Struggle Continues." In part one we talk with young entrepreneurs Tenyse Williams and Mario Daniels who have founded a magazine called "Dapper Dads!"  "Dapper Dads" addresses the needs of fathers.  Wiliams and Daniels talk about how the concept developed and some of the struggles they face in "trying to do the right thing."  "Dapper Dads" debuts on Father's Day 2014!  Let's encourage them and find out how you can get your copy and be a part of this history in the making. In part two we look at the other side of our too familiar struggle.  We talk with our very own Hilda K. Broday who has received another request from an inmate within the prison system asking for help.  New Jersey prisons are riddled with oppression and abuse!  Our efforts to help inmates in Alabama were effective! Now, we try to help inmates in the state of New Jersey!  North or south, east or west, there is no where left to run; we have got to stand and fight!  We are open to all suggestions. Lumumba has worked extensively with many of our people whose terms of incarceration and protracted detainments are, however neatly and mysteriously packaged and presented to the public, politically motivated!  Come learn with us as we define the classification of prisoners, e.g. social, political, death-row etc.  Join our exploration and analysis of, what this program coins as, the "Recidivism Racketeer:" who gets released; why are they released; how long before their expected reincarceration; and, the silver bullet, how does this impact and effect others who should be released. Let's support and join forces with Lumumba as he instructs us on how we can help to hasten the release of all Political Prisoners and enusre that their basic human needs are met in the interim. Yes, much more than the typical petition, this action has demands and .... In recent months, people across the U.S. have risen up against the abuse and misuse of power by our government and its enforcers.  From New Mexico to California and onto Rhode Island, the people are now breaking their silent and too often, fragmented cases of sufferings. Now, it is time to unite in this fight "from sea to shining sea;" we must strategize to save lives! The road has been long, but Chavis has gleaned more than 6,000 signatures and yes, that is big news!  Will you add your name?    www.change.org/petitions/national-action-against-police-brutality Now, this is Bones, and I am concerned about that number of signatures (6000) because the list that names the victims of police brutality has a possible greater number!  In fact, data provided by the Stolen Lives Project's Face Book page confirms "... 4,000 cases of [people] killed by law enforcement nationwide;" that number does not include those who were brutalized and lived!  What's up?  You are!  Sign and live! As outlined in The Struggle Continue's "Let My People Go" series, we are not free indeed - but only to various degrees.  Whatever "degree of freedom" you presently enjoy should be considered conditional or on loan and becomes revocable on demand.  Absolute freedom was taken by force and conversely, true restoration will only come by force. What is Freedom? or asked another way, let my people go from what? I have, every which way to Sunday, tried to illustrate with words one of the greatest schemes, perhaps, since the enslavement of Blacks in the New World.  The most effective way for "the system" to keep a man enslaved is to tell him he's free then have him believe he's free all while knowing that he's really not free. If you are offended; good - do something about it!  If you believe your 'freedom" is absolute; even better - now help to free others! I realize that things are difficult, our condition is tiring, I get tired too,  Although we may lose many people along  the way, we must save whomever we can.  We were enslaved as a people, NOT INDIVIDUALS, and we will be freed as a people.  Let My People Go! This week we engage in real talk about New World Slavery. That was and is the point of  origin of this Struggle that we Continue. This will undoubtedly become a series because there is simply too much material to cover justly in one hour. Many folks ask why we don't keep quiet about this Struggle talk.  Slavery has ended, we got some civil rights,  and now we are free to live and do as we please, they maintain.  But are we free?   Harriet Tubman said that she could have freed more slaves [from their physical shackles] but too many slaves did not know that they were slaves; it appears that history does repeat itself.   Think about this, a band-aid on your finger will not help you if you're suffering from the Flu and similarly, trying to remedy that which has spiritual/celestial origins with civil or man-made acts simply does not work. We are asking that you at least open your minds to the possibility; after all, to date, fewer things offer explanations that make sense. Justice for Kyam Livingston! This week we speak with Mr. Alex Livingston, son of Kyam Livingston, a 37 year old Brooklyn NY woman who died in police custody after repeated pleas for medical assistance were ignored.  The family needs our support, prayers and assistance to get justice and ensure that no one else suffer this dehumanizing and fatal treatment. I have said time and time again, that when meeting with families in these instances and under these circumstances, I am at a loss of words; no words can remove the pain. However, Kyam's mother is not at a loss of words.  On Sunday, August 11, 2013, the victim's mother uttered repeatedly, "this is mine!" meaning, this pain is mine, this fight is mine, this human being that was left to die is mine! According to the family, Kyam's story, which is all too familiar to people in this struggle, is one of betrayal, hurt, pain, and the most egregious forms of disrespect and disregard towards human life!   Like we said on this program during August 2012, amid this fight for justice involving the Murder/Lynching of Ramarley Graham at the hands of the NYPD, Bronx NY, CPR, i.e.. Generally, we think of CPR as a life saving technique, however, CPR, when administered in the form of  the New York Police Department's (NYPD) commitment to Courtesy Professionalism and Respect, can become deadly and that's a fact! This week, to better understand the pain in CPR, we take a quick look at the history and origins of policing as it relates to people in the struggle. Then we reflect and give updates on the ongoing protests and rallies in response to the murder of Ramarley Graham by NYPD officers in Bronx, NY.  More specifically, we highlight events from July 19, 2012 and August 2, 2012.  The Graham family is not expected to be with us, therefore I recall from my memory. This matters because in our society it is believed and proven by the actions of people in general, and those with authority in particular, that good people deserve good things while bad people simply get what they deserve.  Wow, let's talk about this.  Those thoughts have transcend color lines, meaning even people in the struggle find themselves adopting similar sentiments.  Wow, again, we need to talk about this and put things into perspective. Case in point, consider the historical concepts and ramifications of the "house and field Negroes." As we sift through this program, we maintain our exploratory and non-judgmental approach, providing facts and information and allowing each person to formulate their conclusion.  This will be tough but necessary segment because our youth and many people find themselves in this identity crisis.  There exist a great quote, "you have to know who you are to get where you're going," and in keeping with that, let's help and encourage one another to learn and discover ways to be comfortable and "conscious" in the skin that they're in!  This is Bones X, signing off; Check-Mate.  01:02:00Bones XnoEmpowerment,Oppression,Police Brutality,Discrimination Racism,Youth ViolenceThis week we engage in one of those "difficult" dialog:  skin complexion.  The origins of this program lie in the concerns of a young listener of "The StruggleGetting our Fair Share in an era of Sharecropping?http://www.blogtalkradio.com/bones-x/2012/03/11/the-struggle-continuesSelf Helphttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bones-x/2012/03/11/the-struggle-continues/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bones-x/2012/03/11/the-struggle-continuesSun, 11 Mar 2012 23:00:00 GMTGetting our Fair Share in an era of Sharecropping? Our presenters are Rosa Lee Smith (Mom) and Abraham Jenkins (Cousin Abe), and possibly a few other mystery guests. They speak from their experiences and their hearts. Feel their pain, touch their hope, and embrace their determination to endure and succeed. Ask questions and share your stories; we are all in this together. Join us this week as we welcome, celebrate, and learn from, Bro. George Edwards, former member of the original Black Panther Party.  During our program on August 7, 2011, I toyed with the concept that soldiers were made while warriors were born (Biblical passages about Gideon), and this week we commune with a true warrior. Bro. Edwards has dedicated and at times, risked his life, fighting for people and their inalienable right to exist freely without compromises or conditions.  In a phrase, "Power to the People!"  Of the many groups born out of the Civil Rights Era, the Black Panther Party was unique because it was simultaneously revered and feared even by many of the people whom they intended to help.  Listen and join in as we get this inside view of the summit of radicalization.  Wow, talk about "putting chains on The Beast!" Although Bro. Edwards has interviewed with national and international newspapers, magazines, television broadcasters, and film producers, he has never interviewed with Bones X and you, the listening audience of "The Struggle Continues."  Let's make this memorable and use it as a tool to help us better continue the struggle. Instead of "drama," we examine how, why, and if one's familial name and heritage is important to an overall healthy psyche.  This is of particular importance to Blacks in America and the "New World" because the majority of us really don't know our origins.  How important is knowing who you are and where you're from in determining where you are going and how fast you can get there? Seemingly, this natural quest to belong promotes many of our sub-cultures.  People need to belong to something and if that which they belong to does not accept them, then the results can be ....... well, just look around you.  01:02:00Bones XnoEmpowerment,Oppression,Police Brutality,Discrimination Racism,Youth ViolencePsych!  "Save the drama for your Mama" because this show's title is purposefully misleading. This week our special guest is Ms. Hilda Broady, M.S., L.M.H.C., VRC.  Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Broady is Founder of "A Different Approach," a Bronx, NY based initiative that incorporates sportsmanship, mentorship and learning, and has yielded proven and effective results. Ms. Broady is a survivor and has learned to dance to whatever music life plays, while occasionally showing her prowess by selecting a new song.  One of her favorite quote is "Nothing Beats a Failure But A Try!"  To date, she has tried and succeeded! We all know that, in terms of our youth, something is wrong.  There are problems within and without our familial and community structures.  Join this segment as we:  learn what Ms. Boady is doing that has yielded her successful results; find out how we can participate; or inquire how we can branch-off of this idea and plant a seed in other areas/regions. PPH This week we explore the much troubled systems of public housing, 'the projects," as it were.  We analyze the what, when, where, who and why, and most importantly, we explore the "how" can we begin to turn this around.  In too many instances, public housing units are comparable to community based semi-patrolled prisons.  Free your mind and your body has to follow. Our special guest will be Stephanie Reeder, a concerned citizen and an up and coming Activist(?).  Ms. Reeder recognizes that this system does not work and has begun a quest for viable and implementable solutions.  Let's put our heads and hearts together and tackle this problem.  When we UNITE - everything is possible.  This is Bones X, Check-Mate.  01:02:00Bones XnoEmpowerment,Oppression Government,Police Brutality,Discrimination Racism,Youth ViolenceThis week we explore the much troubled systems of public housing, 'the projects," as it were.  We analyze the what, when, where, who and why, and most importanWhat is the "Mark of the Beast?"http://www.blogtalkradio.com/bones-x/2011/08/28/the-struggle-continuesSelf Helphttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bones-x/2011/08/28/the-struggle-continues/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bones-x/2011/08/28/the-struggle-continuesSun, 28 Aug 2011 23:00:00 GMTWhat is the "Mark of the Beast?" Over the past few weeks, we have explored the spiritual aspects and elements of our struggle and concluded that economics are indeed a means to an end.  Now, what is the end game?  Simply put, you are!  What would make you foreclose on your piece of this struggle?  How do you envision this much talked about "mark of the beast?" On any given day, most people quickly state "I ain't  accepting no mark on my hand or forehead," but how can we be certain if we don't know what that mark is?  What a shame to have survived, endured and even prospered through all these instances of abuse and misuse, to now go out like this.  Not so, we shall not perish for lack of knowledge. You know what to do; put your thinking caps on and let's get busy.  Seemingly, none of us on an individual level, with the exception of the consolidated beast, has the answer but when we UNITE - everything is possible.  Check-mate.   01:04:00Bones XnoEmpowerment,Oppression,Spirituality,Discrimination Racism,Government EconomicsOver the past few weeks, we have explored the spiritual aspects and elements of our struggle and concluded that economics are indeed a means to an end.  Now, wRap Sessions with Boneshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bones-x/2011/08/21/the-struggle-continuesSelf Helphttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bones-x/2011/08/21/the-struggle-continues/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bones-x/2011/08/21/the-struggle-continuesSun, 21 Aug 2011 23:00:00 GMTRap Sessions with Bones Wow, I said a mouthful on 8/14/11 -- checkout the archives!  This week we dedicate the entire show to your reactions.  React to my "the beast" disclosure!  React to the "Million March on Harlem Against the Libyan War."
