I've listened to a couple of shows now, and I'm curious what it's like at the other end of the mike, so here's my test segment.
Date / Time: 2/26/2007 2:45 PM UTC
AAAAAAAAAAArrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! I hate when I do that.I haven't done radio in a long time. And it's showing. "Um" and "Uh" are bad, sloppy habits and I need your help to break me of them. So, I'm running a contest. Download the archived segment. Count the times I use "um" or "uh" during the show, and record your count below.First commenter to get the number correct will be able to direct a contribution to their favorite non-political charity (because of election finance laws, it absolutely cannot be a political outfit) of fifty cents (or should that be "fitty cent"?) per "um".*Look for other contests later, as I'm going to have both other bad habits to break, and will be looking for some royalty free bumper music to use for the show.If you have a suggestion for other contests or prizes-perhaps a guest post opportunity on B-blog, or some other creative (and cheap) way to reward detail oriented listeners, chime in with those as well. Thanks for your help. Want to be sure I'm ready when Air America or Jones Radio comes calling.Ow. I think I just pulled a snark muscle...*limited to a total of $25 per contribution.

Here are some of the sites we referred to for your edification and perusal.Muse's blog is Musings. Check it out for political news and fabulous snark from Fort Bend County.
Melissa Noriega's website for the special election to Houston's At Large Position 3 is here.
You can find out more about the Koufax Awards that Muse, Sharon, and myself made the first round of nominations for Best Post. There's a lot of good writing in the lefty blogosphere. Check it out.
Sharon and Tracy can be found at the Wise County Active Dems website-don't forget to check out the sample letter and send it along in favor of getting SB 714 out of committee to floor debate.
In addition to her work at Texas Kaos, Sharon also has a personal blog, BlueDaze and somehow found the time to do a fabulous story on Rev. Diane Baker, Dallas Peace Center 's 2006 Peacemaker of the Year and her treatment at the hands of the US Attorney's office for daring to protest this bloody war.
For more coverage of doings in Wise County, check out the local semi-weekly, Wise County Messenger.

There will never be another Molly Ivins. But ordinary people can still bring extraordinary change.

Please join me on Radio Boadicea at 7 p.m. CST. More fun than inane red carpet chatter in the Academy pre-show, my guest will be Martha Griffin of Musings. In addition to being a blogger and activist who’s broken stories into traditional media outlets, Martha is now the campaign manager for Melissa Noriega as she seeks election Houston City Council in the At Large Pos 3.
Tracy Smith and Sharon Wilson (aka TXSharon on Texas Kaos and Daily Kos)are also in the trenches of political warfare using their group, Wise County Active Democrats to enlarge the Texas Democratic Party’s footprint in rural Wise County.Groundwater issues are vital in Wise County, and they’re also watching pending legislation to support good laws and fight bad ones.
