Today's EcoAlert with Nadine Patrice features and interview with Audrey Peterman. Audrey has become an environmental evangelist. She speaks on the subject of 'integration.' Not as a societal issue, but as one of environmental concern. She noticed a distinct lack of 'color' among the campers that she and her husband meet during a 3 month journey in mid-1990s.

She began Earthwise Productions as a communciation company, encouraging African-Americans to visit our National Parks, because she realized that people don't protect what they don't think of as theirs. If she could get more people to experience a National Park, they would, she reasoned, be more concerned about protecting, and expanding, our National Park System.

For that reason, and few others, Audrey has been nominated to be a recipient of a prestigious 'Twinkie Award.' Before you scoff, take a look at www.TheTwinkieAward.com. Read about Audrey and the other candidates, and you'll see this 'Twinkie' is more than fluff.
