Deardra Shuler talks with award-winning singer/actress Roz White who is paying tribute via "Musical Legends" to Pearl Bailey per "Pearl Bailey By Request" & Cleve Douglass who honors Nat King Cole; Janice Hall honors Marlene Dietrich & Gretchen Reinhagen appears as Kay Ballard at Urban Stages. Ms. White performs 16 of Bailey's songs(including "St. Louis Blues," "Baby, It's Cold Outside," & "The Hucklebuck"). The evening includes swing, jazz & Broadway show tunes.” A Washington, DC native, Roz White has a lengthy career in entertainment. Her theatrical credits include “Effie” in Dreamgirls (Nat’l Tour), Violet, One Mo' Time, and Bessie's Blues. Roz had two chart topping dance singles and has worked with everyone from Ray Charles to Michael Jackson. She has appeared on The American Music Awards, and “The Oprah Winfrey Show. "Nat ‘King’ Cole: Unforgettable Smooth Grooves" is Cleve Douglass’s tribute to some of Nat King Cole’s most memorable songs, using Douglass’ updated original arrangements. Cleve Douglass was born in Nashville, Tennessee and began his early vocal training in classical (operatic) vocal technique, moved on to musical theatre and eventually to jazz and improvisational ("scat") singing. He was twice nominated Male Jazz Vocalist by Manhattan Association of Clubs (MAC). He appeared on NBC Today Show and toured Japan for many years. Cleve made numerous appearances in television and radio, jazz clubs, concert halls, cultural centers, festivals, hotels, resorts, etc. Cleve lives in New York working with a number of bands, trios, and quartets.
