Freedmen's Town, Texas with Gladys House

Today we shall be speaking with Gladys House who will share with us the history and current events of

Freedmen's Town, Texas. 

To lay the foundation, "Freedmens Towns" were real estate developments in the form of settlements and small towns that were built by "freedmen" aka.......... former slaves after the Civil War.  They built their own homes, created their own jobs, and educated their children all WITHOUT government aid, nor did they use bank financing. 

Today Freedmen's Town, Texas is located within the city of Houston, Texas.
