Originally Broadcast Live on CBS Radio Big Talker 1580 am on 11/24/09 One of the most prolific and successful county economic development organizations in the United States is the Fairfax County, Virginia, Economic Development Authority. Headed up by Dr. Jerald L. Gordon and his team, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) promotes Fairfax County as one of the world's best business locations. Today the FCEDA has three marketing divisions -- National, International, and Small and Minority Business Development -- that work with companies interested in starting, expanding and relocating businesses to Fairfax County. The FCEDA has permanent offices in San Francisco to assist with the marketing effort and handle the increasing number of international companies interested in establishing operations on the east coast of the U.S. Joining Biz Talk With Josh host Joshua I. Smith on Tuesday, November 24th will be FCEDA President and CEO Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D. Dr. Gordon has been with the FCEDA since late 1983. In that time, office space in the county grew from 32 million square feet to more than 111 million square feet and jobs in the county grew from 243,000 to more than 600,000. Dr. Gordon has also worked for Arlington County, Virginia and the United States Department of Labor. In his present role, Dr. Gordon was instrumental in creating the Emerging Business Forum and bringing the 1998 World Congress on Information Technology to Fairfax County. In 2005, the FCEDA was named by Site Selection Magazine as one of the Top Ten Economic Development organizations in North America.
