    Making It All Count

Wow, what a great conversation with Bryan Hurlbut, business owner, IT consultant and author of his newly released book, Making It Count:  Putting Meaning Back in Business and Relationships.

A taste of how to make your work, relationships and life count:

Figure out who you want to be and what you want.  If you don't know what you want, ask yourself, "What don't I want?" and look on the other side.

Enhance your communications and relationships by getting to the truth - even when it's uncomfortable to be there.  Bryan's definition of truth:  "the highest form of reality that exists".

Respect all generations in the workplace.  Knowledge and experience has no age limitation.

Stop managing from a place of fear - people were hired for a reason.  Believe in others and find ways to support their success.

    Communicate.  Seek input.  Listen.

Honor and leverage differences - there is greatness in diversity (generation, gender, culture, experience, skills ... )

Find balance in your day and you will find balance in your life.  It is up to you to choose how to invest your time, and how you will measure it.

Transition from "going to work" to "going to fun".  Life has many sandboxes.

    And there's more ...
