Bio diesel to fuel small business

The goal of this blog-talk-radio show is to info listeners about the opportunities available to small business and non profit organizations by employing used cooking to fuel buses, trucks and equipment.

I will use my company Bio Liberty, LLC and the lessons we have learned after natural/man-made disaster as an example.

Here in South East Louisiana we are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina and Rita. While politics have played an unfortunate role in the slow recovery, it must be understood that this was the largest natural disaster in American history. 90,000 square miles were effected, over a million people were displaced and over 500,000 homes were destroyed or damaged beyond repair. It must also be understood that those most effected were poor, elderly, and have little if any resources to rebuild.

Bio Liberty, LLC was formed by myself (a veteran), I came to Louisiana to help relief and recovery efforts on September 1st, 2005 and a local dentist who offered his property on Bayou Liberty in Slidell, LA for relief volunteers to use. Over the last 2.5 years veterans, teachers, students, activists and working people and retirees from across the country came to help the people of the Gulf Coast rebuild. During that time several examples of alternative energy were employed to help with this effort. Bio Diesel powered cars and buses from Seattle, Maine, California and Virginia delivered supplies and volunteers. Solar energy was used to power lights, satellite Internet access.

These efforts have and alternative energy uses were not only "green" but the only means to operate this effort when cell phone towers were down and the power was out for thousands of square miles. Now, these technologies are being used to help with the rebuilding of homes.

Bio Liberty, LLC collects used cooking oil from local restaurants and turns it into Bio Diesel in our processor. We use this fuel to power tractors, bobcats, stump grinders and trucks.  This fuel is fare less expensive and is abundant. Thus, we are able to pass saving on to our customers and partnering organizations. We are also employing solar and geothermal energy installation training for veterans who will help with home and business construction on the Gulf Coast.

At this point, we are for profit company. However, we will soon turn Bio Liberty, LLC into a non profit organization to train veterans and rebuild green homes for low income families.
