Tonight's special guest is Gidon Raz, 62, a returning NAASCA family member who originally surprised us in 2011 by calling in from Jerusalem, Israel, to talk about repressed memories of child abuse that he had recently uncovered. Gidon grew up in what he describes as "a fog" in dysfunctional and abusive family. He recalls confusion and disorientation from the earliest of his days, even in infancy. Born in New York he was only two when the family moved for the first of numerous times. "There was a lot of violence emotional and physical all the time," Gidon writes of his family. My mother was a vicious bipolar narcissist. Scramming, beating and brow beating were part of the daily diet. Including throwing shoes at my genitals when I was a teenager and thinking that it was funny." Gidon says, "Since about twelve I have been made many efforts to function and recover, but mostly the therapists could not grasp the depth of my dysfunctional family." At 18 he learned about kibbutz. Discovering that the children were separate from the parents he thought that it would be heaven. He decided that whatever was going on in his family would not continue with him. He moved to Israel. About 26 years ago he joined an organization called re-evaluation counseling, and has since been dedicated to recovery. Married with two children, he lived on kibbutz for 17 years, but left in 1992 to move to Jerusalem. "I have found that one of the main problems is what I call denial and internalized denial, and I spend much time counseling people," he says. "Today I have a practice in vibrational (frequency) medicine, one-brain therapy and ozone. I also lead a support group for adult abused children in Jerusalem."
