Hey gang!..just got home from Decatur Ill. we attended representing the "PARA-NORMALS"!!...(myself and my wife)WOW! great trip and a good time!!, first let say thank you to "Troy and "Luke" for putting on this event and for showcasing artist of the independent film forum..We arrived at the Haunted lincoln theatre around 1:30 and expected quit a crowd....but no... small and dedicated folks from paranormal groups and individuals interested in the independent film arts, and the paranormal..but as I said it was nice! my highlight was meeting and speaking with "Doug" from ghostly talk radio out of the detroit/warren Michigan area. I enjoyed speaking with him and hope to keep in touch?, we also met a group calling themselves (G.R.I.M.M) and found they drove from Wissconsin! so we were not the only crazy ass people attending..lol..lol! well the four films we watched were interesting and surely left questions and answers for me to ponder?. I thought hard as to any type of review of the films as I did not want to offend anyone who worked so hard on thier prospective projects! but?...well....I must point out some things I thought were arye! and slightly off kilter for me.the first film being the "Villisca" movie....well done and great acting, but the flash back and physco-scitzofrenic flashes and warped moments I could have lived without!..I also felt the paranormal aspect was secondary to the story?...left me wanting a little more of the paranormal scenes in the house ..but hey! still a great film.the next was "Dead House" and "Nurse Nancy"...now let me say this and make it perfectly clear!...."yes" I do believe some people having the abilty to be physcic and somewhat sensative..I myself at times am very sensative!, but come on folks to have almost everyone in the group tagging themselves as physcic and mediums...holy crap!!! I did enjoy the film for the effort the investigators put into the case at Dead House, but again the alot of so called sensing and guessing at what had happened in certain rooms and yet scenes of the family members were inserted but not much real info recorded to verify what the investigators were claiming, and the way the team was cross contaminating each others evps and any type of evidence collection was slight at most, too many people in one room and one spot for me! and again all the conjecture and guessing was absurd!..so thier it is!...after the film, one of the investigators was there to answer questions, but was not sure on several questions asked of the property and certain scientific processes on certain evidence presented in the film..so I enjoyed the movie but I was very dismayed at what i felt was quit a bit of showmanship for the cameras.now the "Nurse Nancy" was okay?...but still had an assembly of everyone being some sort of medium and physcic!....whew! I was getting annoyed, but the part in the film were the team radio went into some sort of interference and it sounded like screaming! was pretty creepy and captivating!..but then one of the physcic investigators shushed! the entities screaming and then became ill and was supposedly possesed?...wow! hmmmmm..well i will be nice I have yet to experience anything like this yet as I am still new to the paranormal feild but not to the research of it and of the real world ! as a real investigator and security specialist for my company..I was slightly bothered again by the whole physcic aspect with no evp or phtographic evidence on film or in photos?...my group uses science and sense detection for our investigations...so as I will put it about this film..."interesting but I was very concerned as to some of the actual validity of the case"!the next was "the rockliffe mansion"...okay this was a dusey!..they had this gentlemen who calls himself "ghostcatcher" a Dr. Gary Hawkins ?...well he claims he can hold a ghost inplace?..cath it if you will?....uhhhhhhh..yeah!...okay.well I do not even know what to say but come on!!..there were some big problems I had with this one! at one point in the film he is holding a ghost! and yet no one used the emf they had been using earlier, in the spot were the ghost was supposed to be?..nor use of any temp device?..just him having people come over and feel the cold spot and the pressure the "tingling"?....it would take to long to even start to explain what he is doing as to make anyone that close to him feel what they are feeling, but rest assured there are real ways to do this..no ghosts!, and by the way! the people other then Dr.Hawkins and the film crew, were not investigators! they were everyday people there to ...in my opinion experience a ghost tour! they presented in the film several orbs! and one starnge shadow..but both very suspect and not overly exciting as evidence?....so there for this one i was not impressed with this pick nor the way the investigation..oh wait the "ghost tour" went!the last was a comedy film starring some names in the paranormal feild, our friends from ghostlytalk, was okay and fun. soo there you have it ....sorry if i offended anyone my purpose was to vent and share my thoughts..my thoughts only...but here is the zinger!!!when we checked out the film fest online our info idicated a ghosthunt after the fest was over?...well upon arriving we were told to attend the hunt it was $55.00 a person !!! we were under the impression the hunt was included for the $20.00 we paid at the door?...we did find that a little dishatning as I wanted to do the hunt for my group and put up the pics or evidence on our page...but nope..not this time?..sorry guy's..I was not willing to pay $110.00 for the opurtunity..I felt it was a little strong of a cost?..but overall it was a good trip .I spent time with my awsome wife ! and had a great dinner at a italian restraunt called "pastbillities"..great food and great service!..thanks Decatur we will be back!
