The history of the artists of Yosemite is not merely a recounting of the paintings, engravings, and etchings they produced, but encompasses politics, big business, and the early movement to set aside spectacular land to be forever enjoyed by the public. Artist Victoria Chick chats with Big Blend Radio hosts Nancy J. Reid & Lisa D. Smith, about the historic artists and photographers who helped put Yosemite on the map including Thomas Ayers, Carleton Watkins,Thomas Hill, Albert Bierstadt, James Smillie, Thomas Moran,  and Charles William Dahlgreen.

Victoria Chick is a figurative artist and early 19th & 20th century print collector, based in Arenas Valley in southwest New Mexico. Read her articles and listen to her Big Blend Radio interviews in Big Blend Radio & TV Magazine, a free monthly digital variety magazine.

This interview originally aired on June 17, 2015 as part of Big Blend Radio's Happy Hour variety show, that broadcasted live from the historic Coronado Motor Hotel in Yuma, Arizona.
