The E-2 Non-immigrant treaty investor visa allows individuals from countries with trade treaties with the US to self-sponsor their employment visas. The requirements to qualify are that the investor place a substantial amount of capital into a US enterprise and create jobs for US workers.  This little known visa category also offers the flexibility of creating joint ventures with US businesses that are looking for capital. Both US and foreign businesses would profit greatly from knowing about the existence and benefits of this program and how to take advantage of it to create win-win scenarios.
