Dr. Carla Marie Manly maintains her clinical psychology practice in Sonoma County, California. Specializing in the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues, her holistic, body-mind-spirit approach focuses on the individual’s multi-dimensional needs. Acutely aware of the unconscious interplay between cognitive, emotional, and physical states, Dr. Manly notes that increasing one’s self-awareness ultimately improves life satisfaction and personal freedom. Her motto is this: Limitations arise when life is viewed through a fear-based lens of what we cannot do or should not do. By learning to decode and recognize the messages hidden within our fears, freeing transformation results.
As for our topic, Dr. Manly says, "Society is riddled with fear and anxiety. In this past year alone, we have been devastated by natural disasters such as hurricanes and wildfires. We’ve witnessed horrific tragedies at the hands of fellow humans, such as the recent Las Vegas shootings. Children and adults chronically fear the hovering threats of nuclear holocaust and global warming. As a result, we live in constant anxiety. Many are unaware of the insidious fear, although it affects all aspects of life from sleep, relationships, and work to general physical health."
