Call in to speak with the host
My guest will be Irene Buchine. Irene is a writer, speaker, and communications professional whose most important childhood discovery was to trust in her own instincts for guidance. This inner wisdom has helped her maintain balance and perspective during a lifetime of personal and professional obstacles.
An undiagnosed dyslexic as a child and young adult, Irene learned to rely on her intellect and interpretive skills to persevere and overcome the stigma of being considered slow, while she struggled in silence with illiteracy.
She began writing memoir at the Blue Hills Writing Institute at Curry College in Milton, MA, from 2005 to 2009. Robert Atwan was her first mentor. Irene’s ongoing affiliations with writing communities include; Grub Street Writers (courses and seminars), Boston, MA; Nancy Sloan Aronie’s workshop “Writing from the Heart, “Chilmark, MA; Circle of Writers, Acton, MA; Blue Hills Writing Group, Dedham, MA.
Irene’s experience of self educating, making her own way in the world, and then overcoming illiteracy is the framework for the stories she writes and the lessons she uses in her work.
Irene’s blog is thereinventionist.com and her business website is irenebuchine.com.
