Thank you, JFK, for my blog opening today, November 5, 2008. The water works were gushing at my coffee shop, The Second Cup, at 794 Mt. Pleasant Road this morning. A River Runs Through It. And it had nothing to do with the Toronto Infrastructure crumbling. People were crying tears of joy. Reading the Toronto Star people were glued to the A-Section. The woman sitting next to me, a Black Woman, from France, couldn't stop crying. Kids from Northern Secondary were beaming. Happy, happy, happy. The White Folks were more subdued, but genuinely relieved, to have Bush exiting the White House, but not fast enough. Yes, I watched the Election Results but, I watched one of my favorite shows, Criminal Minds, on CTV, first. Thank God for Canadian Networks. I don't know about you, but after 20 months, I am grateful to God the campaigning has ended. Thank You, Jesus. And the voters shouted, Amen! It will most likely be a Long Honeymoon for President Obama. I don't envy the tasks at hand. My intuition tells me, there will be a Part 2 to the Economic Meltdown. Fixing Part 1 is hard enough, but I am sure there will be more, as the saying goes. The Other Shoe hasn't dropped yet. We must pull together with hope and courage and move forward together. James Meredith, Rosa Parks, i thought of you last night. I thought of a lot of things last night. For one bright shining moment, the future looked fantastic. That all changed on a November Day in 1963. Here's hoping History doesn't repeat itself. Go in peace and love one another.
