I will never forget telling my boss in November of 2000 that i needed the day after Election Night off because i would be up all night waiting for the results to be in.  It's a long standing tradition, i shared with my Mother, a Pennsylvania Politician.  Who ever had to interview for a job?   Thanks, Mom.

I was up for a month.

I also will never forget Tim Russert calling the election early, for Al Gore, on NBC.

I never missed Tim on Sunday morning, following Sunday Mass.  We get Mass on NBC up here in Toronto (the Boston affiliate) so when it is -45 and a blizzard is raging, me and my hot chocolate are here telecommuting to Mass.  Thank You, God.

His book about Big Russ was out just awhile back.  A love story to his Dad, still living independently, in Buffalo, New York.

Strangely, a few nights ago on The Daily Show, John Stewart, showed a video clip of Tim Russert and, i forget who, the interviewee was, that said,  so and so "And Big Russ are looking down on ...."  at that point, Tim Russert interjected, "Big Russ is out in the parking lot waiting, he is very much alive."

How ironic that within the week, it's Tim Russert up there in the Press Room in the Sky, looking down on us.

He has all the answers now. 

He's a hard act to follow.
