CBC Television has decided to cancel Hockey Night in Canada's Theme Song.

The Nation of Canada is in an uproar.  There are certain things you don't mess with.

You do not change the American National Anthem to Take Me Out to the Ball Game (wait, i kinda like that idea).

You don't move Harley Davidson out of the USA (wait, they did that).

You do not move Levi Strauss out of the USA (wait, they did that too).

You don't move Yankee  Stadium (pass the Kleenex).

The Hockey Night in Canada Theme Song, played every Saturday  night at 7 pm, since God dropped the puck in Eden, is recognized by every Canadian living and dead.

And every American, living in Canada identifies with it too.

It is to Canada what God, Mom and Apple Pie is to Our American Cousins.

Imagine no flags on graves on Memorial Day.  Imagine the Indy 500 cancelled.  Imagine the Indy winner drinking champagne (bleat!  eek! ye gads! C'est non!).  Imagine Macy's decided to cancel the 4th of July Fireworks in the NY Harbor.  Imagine i spelled Harbor  the British  Way (Harbour).  Imagine your grandmother served Cheeseburgers on Thanksgiving.   Imagine I drank American Beer.  Imagine, imagine, imagine.

It has come to this.

A few years ago the Suits at the CBC were going to fire Don Cherry.  Sacre Hockey Pucks.  That would be like firing Santa Claus. 

Oh, and then they were ready to Deep 6 Ron MacLean.  The Bud Abbott to Cherry's Costello.

Is the MRI Dept. available at Mt. Sinai?  I think the Powers That Be need a collective body scan.
