She has published more than one thousand articles and short stories in a variety of publications, including Woman's Day, Modern Bride, Virtue, Reader’s Digest, and the New York Times Syndicate.

Her 15 books include WHERE ANGELS WALK, TRUE STORIES OF HEAVENLY VISITORS, which was on the New York Times best-seller list

for over a year, has sold almost two million copies and been translated into fourteen languages. Published in fall, 1994, were the sequel to ANGELS, titled WHERE MIRACLES HAPPEN, and for children, AN ANGEL TO WATCH OVER ME. Both books were written in response to suggestions from readers, and were followed in rapid succession by three more in this series. FOREVER YOUNG (Thomas More Publishers), the life story of actress Loretta Young, was published in November, 2000. The actress had read the angel series, and requested Anderson as her biographer. The two became close friends. Anderson’s most recent book, IN THE ARMS OF ANGELS (Loyola Press) covers angelic activity primarily during the past decade, including stories of hope from the 9/11 and Columbine School tragedies.

Anderson has appeared on national television programs including "Good Morning America," "Oprah," "20/20,” “NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw" and "Mother Angelica Live," and was featured in such documentaries as "Angels--Beyond the Light" (NBC), “Angel Stories” and "Stories of Miracles” (The Learning Channel), and many videos. She was a story consultant for the television series, IT’S A MIRACLE, lectures in cities across the country, and has been interviewed on hundreds of radio talk shows.

Anderson is a Catholic, a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and a former adjunct professor at Harper Community College in Palatine, Illinois. She and her husband live in suburban Chicago, and have five grown children and three grandchildren.

Joan, I heard you on Coast to Coast 2 weeks ago and I am so glad to have you back, you have proved to be my audiences favorite guest.

You saved someone's life.
Questions.

1.  Angels do not have bodies, and they are not dead humans.  Amen.   They can appear in human form.

2. In Gethsemane, an Angel comforted Jesus.  St. Michael.

3.  Angels ministered to Jesus when tempted by Satan.

4. Angels give us strength just like they gave Jesus strength.

5.  The most imortant message is HOPE.

6.  Joan, the last time we spoke, i told you how my mother prayed to St. Theresa.  And she always received a rose representing that her prayer would be answered.  I had the intention, of starting a novena to St. Theresa around my birthday, I had 3 requests in mind to ask St. Theresa for.  That day, someone came to see me, a complete stranger, and she brought me 3 roses for my birthday.   I was speechless.  I explained to this woman, who St. Theresa, the Little Flower is, and thanked her for giving me the answer to my prayers, BEFORE i asked.  And this also confirms to me, that as it says in the Bible, God knows, BEFORE we ask, what we are going to request.

My muffin story.   This is unbelievable but tryue.
7.  You saved someone from suicide.  Someone came to me for counselling and she has a brain tumor.  She told me she was on the verge of suicide.  I told her to never give up hope, and to ask her Guardian Angel.  I had the 2nd book you gave me, but i knew in my heart i HAD to give it to her.

A 9-11 survivor named Janelle was encased in rubble in the World Trade Center for 25 hours before being rescued, Anderson detailed. Several hours before her rescue she reported being visited by a man named Paul who said he was from the "Advanced Rescue Squad." He spent a long time talking and comforting her, but later, firemen said it would have been impossible for someone to speak with her as she was fully encased and there would have been no room to sit next to her.
