Erica M Nelson is the author of book “Happiness Quotations” due in March 2011 and “Prospect When You Are Happy” published in 2007 (available online at Amazon.com).Former Sacramento Bee and Santa Barbara News-Press news reporter, Erica wrote for California newspapers for years covering education, schools, cities, entertainment and water. She presently writes a weekly advice column in seven San Francisco Bay Area major metropolitan papers including the San Jose Mercury News and Contra Costa Times. Erica worked for about a decade in philanthropy, starting out as the Community relations manager for Santa Clara based Intel Corp (3 years) before she became the first employee and ultimately director of programs for the Grove Foundation (7 years). In 2008, Erica was hired as the first employee of Kenneth Rainin Foundation, where she assisted with creation of a five-year strategic plan; built an online giving system; developed guidelines working with Jennifer Rainin and the board of directors; plus worked on creation of the website working collaboratively with designer and the board of directors. Erica is a graduate of UC Davis, and keeps her real estate license active so she can invest wisely.
