But since then, I have had a quick chat by telephone with a friend of a friend. He works in a nearby town - in Gloucestershire not Worcestershire - called Tewkesbury. They had similar flooding problems last summer, since they are a little further along the river.

He - poor him - has had to deal with the complexities of mortgage and insurance applications for people that have suffered at the hands of rampant floods. It must have been tough.
