Can a Tithe be given to anyone but a Levite?

"As for the tribe of Levi, your relatives, I will compensate them for their service in the Tabernacle.  Instead of an allotment of land, I will give them the tithes from the entire land of Israel"...Numbers 18:21 {NLT}

More often than not the "modern day" Tithe is collected, or should I say demanded from congregations using a "thinly veiled" authority based on the Mosiac / Levitical Law.

Sadly, even as this "foundation" is touted, this reference {Num 18:21}, and the details gleamed through an "Exegetcal" study of the Mosiac / Levitical Law as it relates to the practice of the Tithe is ABSOLUTELY ignored.

For sure, as you and I do not live under the Mosaic / Levitical Law  or under the pre-law supposition (another lesson entirely ~ next week), a careful examination of the scripture will shed some light on the matter, and answer this question...

"Can the Tithe be given to ANYONE but the Levite"...?

• What would YOUR Pastor say in answer to this question...?
