    ATL Conversations Salutes 7 Stages on June 23rd - A Local Theatre w/International Reach!



    This Atlanta-based professional theatre organization prides itself on engaging artists and audiences by focusing on social, spiritual and artistic values in contemporary culture. Their primary emphasis is to support and develop new plays, new playwrights and new methods of collaboration and they are committed to bringing international plays and theatre artists to our community to share in their wisdom and to bring different cultures into intimate contact.

    About Del Hamilton
    As co-founder of 7 Stages, Del has been a part of the company since its inception in 1979. As Artistic Director, he has directed over 60 productions at 7 Stages, including HUSH: Composing Blind Tom Wiggins, Athol Fugard's My Children! My Africa!, Susan Yankowitz's Night Sky, Macbeth, The Tempest, numerous plays by Sam Shepard. He has also acted in such notable plays as Beckett's Waiting for Godot, Krapp's Last Tape, and Endgame, Carmen Kittel by Georg Seidel, Der Park by Botho Strauss, Fugard's A Place With the Pigs, Der Frosch by Herbert Achternbusch, and the original production of Jim Grimsley's Mr. Universe. Del directed a very successful production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest at Teatr Nowy in Poznan, Poland, and he has acted and directed at theaters in Atlanta, New York, London, Paris, Belgrade, Johannesburg and Amsterdam. Del is the author of several plays and has received numerous awards.

    About Isma'il ibn Conner
    Isma'il was last seen performing in Bernard-Marie Koltès' BLACK BATTLES WITH DOGS at deSingel, in Antwerp, Belgium. Prior to this performance, this production was seen at Centre de Dramatique National in Orleans, France. He also performed in IN THE SOLITUDE OF COTTON FIELDS, by Bernard Marie Koltès at 7 Stages, as part of THE U.S. KOLTÈS PROJECT.

    Other projects by this playwright include BLACK BATTLE WITH DOGS (Combat de negre et de chiens) at Festival d'Avignon in Avignon, France and the Hellenic Festival in Athens, Greece. This production debuted at 7 Stages' in 2001 and subsequently toured France (Lorient, Paris, and Clermont-Ferrand) as well as in Chicago for the Playing French Festival at the Athenaeum. Other 7 Stages appearances include Athol Fugards' "MASTER HAROLD" ...and the boys on national tour with 7 Stages. He has also been seen in 7 Stages' productions of "MASTER HAROLD" ...and the boys, Iphigenia... a rave-fable, and Skinwalkers (working with Murray Mednick).

    Isma'il is currently working on THE U.S. KOLTÈS PROJECT (in co-operation with The Koltès Estate), a 10-year 6-play project involving the works of Bernard-Marie Koltès. This ambitious project includes translations of six plays, publication of the translations, university residencies, symposiums & panels, premiere at 7 Stages, tour of France and Africa, then a tour of American cities. Isma'il is an Artistic Associate with 7 Stages Theatre and creator of 7 Stages resident dance ensemble, G7 KRUMP.
