This self-awareness exercise deals effectively with emotional trauma, anti-social behavior and withdrawal, anger, stress, combat stress and even Post Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI). Roberts holds two Ph.D.s in Behavioral Sciences. In these workshops, he demonstrates the deeply healing power of establishing a trusting relationship with horses without the use of force. With his soft-spoken, nurturing style, Roberts assists veterans as they learn to cause a partnership with the horse. While he worked there, in his words, "[t]he veterans simply kidnapped [him]," and his work with them "utterly redirected [his] life." With this, in 1987, he shifted from biochemistry to the still-developing study of Posttraumatic Stress (PTS). He has written two books on the nature and treatment of PTSD, "Achilles in Vietnam" and "Odysseus in America" , which discuss the nature of the ailment by analogy between the experiences of American soldiers, particularly veterans of the Vietnam War, and the similar experiences depicted in the Iliad and the Odyssey. He is a passionate advocate of improved psychiatric counseling for soldiers, and more vigorous effort to prevent or heal PTS, and has cited classical Greek theater and the collective mourning described in the Iliad as possible precedents. EverestMarine Staff Sergeant Thomas Charles Linville (Charlie) enlisted in the Marine Corps 2006, and shortly hereafter married his high school sweetheart Mandi. They have two daughters. Charlie's served multiple tours in both Iraq and Afganistan. It was in the latter, while serving as an Ordinance Disposal Technician - he and his team rendered safe multiple IED’s, disposed of explosives both “homemade” and conventional ammunition - that Charlie was struck by a tertiary device. The explosion inflicted multiple injuries on him, some visible others not. He suffered fractures to his right foot which resulted in an inevitable amputation below the knee. In addition, Charlie suffered the amputations of his right ring and middle fingers. In addition, the blast caused a severe spinal injury at the L4, L5 and S1, which caused radiculopathy in his left leg impairing his mobility, and moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI). Charlie’s injuries have impaired him but he is determined to return to full functionality. Despite his injuries and debilitating pain, he has volunteered his time with the Armed Services YMCA building houses with Habitat for Humanity and volunteering with Feed America. He has also volunteered with Lives of Promise and Semper Fi Fund. He is an advocate for other wounded warriors, a spokesperson for many of the non-profits that supported him during healing, and an inspiring community leader. He is medically retired from active duty as an EOD Tech and has turned his focus on regaining function in his back as well as improved mobility. Currently he is training rigorously to climb Mount Everest in the spring of 2014. Following his successful summit, Charlie plans to attend Boise State University through the Wyakin Warrior Foundation. He will seek a degree in Engineering.  01:00:00Being Deliberatelynomountain climbing,Marines, amputee, war injuries, indomitable spiritMarine Staff Sergeant Thomas Charles Linville (Charlie) enlisted in the Marine Corps 2006, and shortly hereafter married his high school sweetheart Mandi. Shortly after I started teaching in the public schools I met a remarkable woman who steered me in another direction: Orientation and Mobility Specialist. Orientation and Mobility Specialists teach blind children and adults how to travel, either with a dog-guide or a long cane. Terribly excited, I returned to school and earned my Master's Degree from Cal-State L.A. For the next 30 years I taught the blind to travel, shop and get around. I also workrd as a Special Education Teacher in the public schools for about 10 years. In that forty year time span I raised four loving children - a set of triplets and their older brother only 16 months older. I tell ya what I know: life is not like a box of chocolates. It's an entire personalized course in Personal Development! And I love teaching. So I've made it a practice to share what I've learned. I've taught parenting, drug education, because I lost my oldest child to drugs... no jokes here. I've taught motivational trainings, and classes on Moving Thru your Fears. Oh, and I've done presentations on the Attainment of Peace, and Talks on Forgiveness. One of my very favorite passions is teaching Life Skills to Young Adults. Oh and yeah, I've done more than my share of counseling. I'm really being the best me, when I'm sharing myself with others, so on my word, I'm deliriously delighted to be with you at this time and to be of service. You may have seen them giving expert plumbing advice on TV's "Home Wizards", heard them on the News Talk 870 KRLA radio show of the same name, or seen them listed as the "Best of the Best" by the Association of Celebrity Personal Assistants. And, of course, living and working in the center of the world's entertainment industry it shouldn't perhaps surprise you that you might have seen them in movies, TV shows and commercials - including Blind Faith (Feature Film),Hellraiser: Bloodline (Feature Film), the television series Providence, and a national Jeep Cherokee commercial. But in the end it always comes down to their plumbing and doing their best for their customers. "I would never want to walk away from what we do to help each day," David Schuelke says, "I care too much about the difference we make." http://www.twinplumbing.com   00:56:00Being Deliberatelynogood deeds, heartfelt service, kindness, plumbersIt's a philosophy that is at the heart of way Schuelke Plumbing was founded - do everything twice as well, make twice the impression and offer twice the level oMichael Pritchard - Stop The Bullyinghttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/being-deliberately/2013/11/25/michael-pritchard--stop-the-bullyingSpiritualityhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/being-deliberately/2013/11/25/michael-pritchard--stop-the-bullying/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/being-deliberately/2013/11/25/michael-pritchard--stop-the-bullyingMon, 25 Nov 2013 03:00:00 GMTMichael Pritchard - Stop The Bullying Michael Pritchard is a nationally acclaimed keynote speaker praised by the Wall Street Journal, CNN and Time for his ability to use humor to inspire and educate his audiences on communication skills. He is a big guy with a warm heart who as one student described him, “truly walks as he talks.” He began his career on both the comedy stage and as a juvenile counselor in San Francisco’s Youth Guidance Center. In 1980, Michael Pritchard won first place in the San Francisco International Stand Up Comedy Competition as well as winning the prestigious California Probation Officer of the Year. Michael’s offers from Hollywood rolled in including a guest appearance on an Emmy Award winning episode of “Taxi”. His standup comedy billed him with Robin Williams, Jerry Seinfeld, Dana Carvey and Whoopi Goldberg playing venues as Caesar’s, the Comedy Store, Universal Amphitheater and opening for such names as Diana Ross, the Grateful Dead, Kenny Rogers, Mike McDonald and Boz Scaggs. But Michael rejected offers from Hollywood to focus on using his comic talents for inspiring youth and adults. He is prominently featured in the acclaimed documentary "Happy" as he profoundly communicates to an audience of middle school students the impact of bullying. 01:00:00Being Deliberatelynobullying, compassion, humor, kindness, standing upMichael Pritchard is a nationally acclaimed keynote speaker praised by the Wall Street Journal, CNN and Time for his ability to use humor to inspire and educatJon Waldrup - Born Under The Starshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/being-deliberately/2013/11/18/jon-waldrup--born-under-the-starsSpiritualityhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/being-deliberately/2013/11/18/jon-waldrup--born-under-the-stars/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/being-deliberately/2013/11/18/jon-waldrup--born-under-the-starsMon, 18 Nov 2013 03:00:00 GMTJon Waldrup - Born Under The Stars My path is to serve the Earth by helping people learn to love themselves, humanity, and nature. Each lifetime and every form expressed as a lifetime is for the purpose of learning to love. We inhabit our bodies, form relationships, families and communities because in all these we can learn something about love. All the ways we love adorn the Earth in beauty Astrology helps me see the feeling experience through which we learn to love. In the astrology of any individual, couple, or family system, I am seeking to make apparent what it feels like to learn to love. That learning can have so many expressions, but choosing to try to love – at all, better, more deeply, more freely… - is the sign of an awakened soul. I offer sessions for individuals, relationships and families. My most powerful offering for individuals is a series of sessions called Rebirthing Through the Moon. Utilizing a custom set of timings, it is an intensive 6 week course in raising self-awareness. At the collective level, I have created an app, called Moon Temple Oracle, which I feel like is a very good tool for enhancing the consciousness of our participation in the dance of life. I am incredibly honored by each opportunity to serve. While working in the mortgage industry for only a short period of time, I came across several individuals and families that had fallen on hard times, either due to illness or the death of a spouse. I felt the need to focus my efforts toward helping people that were having difficulties dealing with life changing circumstances. In 2002, I raised funds and gathered a small group of committed individuals to open Homesavers, an organization specifically dedicated to helping families save their homes from foreclosure. Offering counseling, lender negotiation and making small loans to help families through difficult times, our primary focus was to provide a pathway for them to get well and back on track. Having spent 20+ years helping others fight to save their homes and set their financial path towards recovery, I found myself fighting the battle of my life with Breast Cancer. The day I received my diagnosis was the most difficult of my life and in only a few weeks my whole world was turned upside down. I was combating a multi-front war. Physically, I was being poked, probed, radiated, drugged and operated on. Mentally, I struggled trying to maintain my workload while juggling Dr. appointments and trying stay on top of my children’s schedules. Most of all, I struggled emotionally with my self-esteem and mortality. After multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and many setbacks, I've emerged victorious. I've always been a fighter and through this period of time, I worked long and hard to keep my business running successfully. But, I would not have been able to manage without the love, support and encouragement from my family, friends and a network of great business relationships. This journey has set my resolve to help families recover and bridge-the-gap during their struggle to get healthy and back on their feet again.01:01:00Being Deliberatelynocancer survivor, foreclosure, financial crisis, compassion, supportI began my professional career in 1990 as a Real Estate agent and loan consultant.
