This amazing piece of writing details the heroic meeting of an American and Japanese WWII soldier during one of the most intense and bloody battles of the war. This encounter leaves the Japanese soldier dead, but the American fighter pilot gives his Imperial battle flag to his son as a war memento. His son, Frederick Lacroix, takes the flag and embarks on a six year journey to find the dead officer's family and return the flag.
