Before Bedtime

A radio show dedicated to interviewing anyone who is making a difference in writing, community service, politics, religion, or all of the above. A valuable opportunity for publicity and promotion. Most genres of fiction/non-fiction will be interviewed and should be submitted for review. Only genres that will not receive an interview: erotic romance, writing filled with profanity, demon/vampire stories, and limited amounts of science fiction. Self-published authors should definitely request an interview! If you would like to be considered as a guest just email the host at brianwrites15@yahoo.com.

It is my special pleasure to introduce this week's fantastic guest on Before Bedtime, Christa Ocker! Here's a little information about our special guest Christa Ocker: Christa Holder Ocker is a #1 Best Selling contributing author for Chicken Soup for The Soul. Her stories have been featured in Chicken Soup for the Kid’s Soul, Pre-teen Soul, Unsinkable Soul and Sister’s Soul. She began to write short stories after years of domestic doldrums. Ernie Patino Joins Us on Before Bedtime!!!!!!!

We only have one guest this week on Before Bedtime, but he is certainly not going to disappoint! It is with great pleasure I introduce a fantastic crime writer, Ernie Patino! Here is just a little teaser for his intense, powerful novel Web of Secrets: Ernesto Patino holds the perfect credentials to author a mystery novel set in south Florida. For over twenty years, he worked as a Special Agent for the FBI and then as a Private Investigator. In Web of Secrets, Patino’s protagonist, Joe Coopersmith, shares a similar background, though Coopersmith, a retired FBI investigative assistant, now specializes in finding missing persons. Published by L&L Dreamspell, Web of Secrets is Patino’s second novel and his first featuring private-eye, Joe Coopersmith. Patino’s story opens with a fast paced action scene set in 1965 in a two-room shack located at the edge of the Everglades, just west of Miami. It then jumps forward three decades to Sarah Baker receiving a phone call from a blackmailer, who claims to know the circumstances of her illegal adoption thirty years ago. Sarah hires Coopersmith to help uncover the mystery of her birth mother. The case soon becomes more deadly than Coopersmith anticipated. Among the characters entering the fray are a talk radio show host on the brink of making it big; a Miami Beach socialite with a mobster-type husband; a computer expert about to be released from jail; and an elderly homeless man known as The Preacher. Their lives overlap in unexpected ways, and create a web from which Joe Coopersmith must untangle the truth. Patino infuses his story with moral dilemmas. Each character must make a choice that will greatly affect the path they tread. Is it worth pursuing the truth about the past if it means jeopardizing your relationships in the present? If you needed money to care for your sick spouse, the only woman you have loved for the past fifty years, how far would you go? The answers are woven in the Web of Secrets.

His book, Jackson, is a great, fascinating book. Here is a little info. on the book: Jackson is a fictionalized Iowa town facing a crisis: the meatpacking plant that employs many townspeople and keeps Jackson going is shutting down. Inspired by the real town of Dubuque, Iowa, the story is told from varying viewpoints of Jackson’s hardworking citizens as they cope with change. It is a collection of one town’s thoughts about losing its major business, while wondering what the future holds. To research material for this book, Jones completely submerged himself into the culture of Dubuque for two years, lending him an interesting creative process and point of view.
