Government workers serve our country in ways the private sector would never consider doing even for pay. Veterans served as government workers and their jobs put their lives on the line every day. Time was, when veterans returned home, they were welcomed back to the jobs they left. Today, not only is the jobs they left not there for returning soldiers, not enough companies are hiring our veterans. America corporations (10% of which are foreign owned) are about profit not civic duty, not patriotism. For some companies, the very same veterans who seek employment have been resourceful in the company profits made from the wars since Sept 11, 2001. Contractors and subcontractors should be required by law to hire our veterans. America owes the veterans and their families a better life. We keep hearing America is better than this, I want to see better, not hear we are better. Instead of having veterans beg for jobs from private industry, our government need to be proactive and include government jobs into the career ladder for every veteran who wants it. Government jobs can be the bridge to develop careers of veterans.
