Domestic violence is a cancer and a stigma that erodes our society in a very quiet way. We all know about it, we know that it happens but the women that suffer it very seldom are in a position to step up and confront their problems. They are victims and very weak on their predicament, as they are living with the abuser, and in many cases ashamed, by their abuser, preconceptions and society in general. They don’t talk about their problems and they may stay in this situation for years before they gather the courage to move away, to move on and get a life of their own, for themselves and their children. In many instances they feel that they are alone, that this is happening only to them, so they feel that they don’t have rights, they don’t have the strength and they don’t have a voice.
We have decided to give some attention to this problem in this month of awareness and we will be talking to Rhachelle Nicol. She is an incredible woman, with all the strength and all the voice to be able to transmit to others that it is hard but it can be done.
