The above is an ancient Chinese proverb with a bit of a different meaning than what it actually says.
It was the first of three curses, with the other two being, "May you come to the attention of the government". And, "May you find what you are looking for".
Each of which can be easily construed to be fraught with peril. And that seems to be where we are now, in..interesting times.
