Interview from the Miami Book Fair, Int'l 2009 Elizabeth Harry is a professor of special education at the University of Miami, where her research and teaching focuses on the impact of special education on families of diverse cultural backgrounds. A native of Jamaica, she founded the Immortelle Children’s Center in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Harry is the author of a memoir, Melanie: Bird with a Broken Wing, and a collection of poems, In Sunshine and in Shadow.
