    Growing, Thriving and Giving During Ramadan!

    As Salaamu Alaikum,
    Ramadan Mubarak!
     
    We want to thank all of you for your generosity.  We know our sagging economy has had a negative impact on most people. We pray for all who are hurting to get relief and get it soon, insh'Allah.  As we close out this Ramadan we want you to know how much we appreciate you.  Also here is some of what we have been able to accomplish together working for the pleasure of Allah:
     
    1.  Helped us increase our base of support from just under 200 to almost 350 (346 to be exact).  
     
    2.  Helped us be noticed by two grant sources (Verizon Wireless and an unknown anonymous source).  The Verizon Wireless grant is paid yearly.
     
    3.  Helped us increase awareness of domestic abuse and get Muslim Men Against Domestic Violence moving forward.  Brother Shyam is doing a great job. Approximately 12 brothers are active recruiting others to learn what violence is and how it can (if not checked) destroy a family and community.  You can contact brother Shyam at ssriram@gpc.edu to know more. 
     
    4.  Helped us answer the need of approximately 25 individuals and five families since the first day of Ramadan.
     
    5. Make our first National Eid Toy/Gift Drive a success. We have approximately 80 children from low income families [50 in metro Atlanta and 30 in LA] who will receive toys or gifts this Eid thanks to you.  The deadline is tomorrow to drop off items and/or gift cards, insh'Allah.  Call 770-255-8500 for drop off locations.  If you live outside of the city use paypal to make a donation to the drive by sending the donation to haleem1@aol.com.
     
    6.  Increase our presence on Facebook and You RA Creator social networking web sites.
     
    All of you who are not sure where or who you are going to pay Zakat Al Fitr or other forms of Zakat to this year consider Baitul Salaam.  Our web site is at www.baitulsalaam.net.  Zakat money is only used for direct aid to our clients (sisters and brothers in need of food, clothing,shelter and other basic necessities).  We have expanded our services to include general emergency assistance.  Our outreach office is located at 675 Village Square Dr. (lower level of the Risala Institute in Stone Mountain.
