This show focuses on ways you can advocate for yourself and the person you care for in the hospital setting, in the community, in your home, and politically. My guest today is Charlotte Berg a mother, advocate, and trailblazer for children with disabilities. Over thirty years ago she was told that her son Kevin who suffered with Cerebral Palsy should go into an institution and that he would never be a productive member of society. Not satisfied with the negative prognosis she chose to go outside of conventional medical advice, educate herself and try controversial therapies. As a result of her advocacy; with help of family, friends and community her son has graduated 3rd in his class at Seattle Pacific University, owned several businesses, a non-profit organization, is happily married with a child, and has authored a book: A Life With Purpose, by Kevin Berg. Please let your tweet, email, or call friends that you know to let them know that this profound woman is giving tips on how you can quickly get over hurdles with healthcare, hospitals, schools, communities and legislation without burning bridges.
