Stop the cruel killing of animals due to overcrowding

Undercover video footage reveals that inmate workers at the Sumner County Animal Shelter in Tennessee were lifting dogs into the air by the skin on their necks and/or by their collars and dangling them in front of veterinarian William Baber, who illegally jabbed them in their chests with a needle. Cats can be seen strangled on noose poles and held on the ground while a worker steps on their back legs and Baber steps on their front legs or chest and then stabs the animals in their stomachs or chests with a needle. He is supposed to be one of the caretakers of the animal kingdom. What a way for a dog or cat to spend the last minutes of it's life, only because these pets are unlucky enough to be put into a dog shelter. They are considered throw aways by these men,  does it give the County or the vets the right to be inhumane? Gassing w/ carbon monoxide in a box is was declared to be illegal, same as having a vet stick a needle into their heart and inject them, hoping it hits it mark, and often does not, and they die an extremely painful death, writhing in pain.  This has to stop.  It is against the law to do this without tranquilizing an animal first so they feel nothing. The government needs to pass stricter laws on euthansia and how it should be done, IF we cannot find the money for "no kill" shelters, or spay and neuter programs, at least give them a humane ending to their lives.  They trust us.  This vet took an oath to protect and humanely help animals.  Please help us stop the vets, once and for all, that are practicing these horrific, inhumane methods of killing dogs & cats and this vet got paid $25,000 a year to do this if you can believe that?.   Both of these methods put the dog through horrendous panic, and pain. Please help by signing this petition to make this a felony to murder animals in this way.  Thank you, from every animal in the country.

I live in Tennessee and am appalled at what I have just seen on the WSMV undercover news report. It is a terrible fact that animals going to shelters ultimately end up being put down, but this is abhorrent and should not be allowed. Dr. Baber should be fired from his job and never allowed to touch an animal again. I don't care if it is the real-life facts of being at a shelter, there are more humane ways to die and being held immobile and hit in the heart with an injection or choked on a noose and stomped on is not the way to do it.

This is cruel and heartless and they are just out for the $9 a kill - plain and simple. This has to stop and shelters need to have more monitoring, especially if they are getting paid to murder these animals - why do they get paid anyway? That doesn't make any sense. This is supposed to be a safe place for a homeless animal to go in order to get fed and have shelter until they can be adopted...hence the name "shelter." We don't do this to any humans that go to homeless "shelters" so why do we do it for the animals? When is this madness going to stop???
