Returning to the Authors on the Air Global Radio Network after a winter sabbatical, Shannon Fisher welcomes her first guest of the 2015 season to The Authentic Woman: Author and Theatre Scholar, Jennifer-Scott Mobley. Mobley is the Immediate Past President of the Women and Theatre Program of the Association of Theatre in Higher Education. Holding a PhD in Theatre Studies from The City University of New York Graduate Center, an MFA in Dramaturgy and Theatre Criticism from Brooklyn College, and a BA in Theatre from the College of William and Mary, Mobley has worked as a performer and dramaturge throughout the New York City metropolitan area. She also serves as a curator of the Jane Chambers Feminist Playwriting Contest. Tonight on The Authentic Woman, we will discuss Jennifer-Scott Mobley's fascinating new book, Female Bodies on the American Stage: Enter Fat Actress, which analyzes the female body in performance, specifically the manner in which in which we represent and interperet the fat feminine form. Above all else, this will be an exploration of female body image. The Authentic Woman is a weekly show on the Authors on the Air Global Radio Network, airing Sundays at 8 pm EST. Host and Producer, Shannon Fisher, enjoys sharing varying perspectives on the female experience through the eyes of writers, artists, celebrities, and community leaders.
