International best-selling author Jacquelyn Mitchard, host of the SUMMER SCRIBES podcast, and Merit Press Editor-in-Chief, welcomes author Laura Moe, author of Breakfast with Neruda (Merit Press), to the studio for a discussion about all things writing and books.  

Laura Moe was raised on the run with a family who changed addresses with the frequency of fugitives. Because they moved so often, books became her most stable friends Naturally her love of reading led her to a career as a librarian and English teacher, and now, an author. She spent most of her working life in central and Southeastern Ohio, but has recently moved to Seattle. Her cdebut novel Breakast with Neruda is now available.

Jacquelyn Mitchard was born in Chicago. Her first novel, The Deep End of the Ocean, was published in 1996, becoming the first selection of the Oprah Winfrey Book Club and a number one New York Times bestseller.  A former daily newspaper reporter, Mitchard is Editor-in-Chief of Merit Press, a contributing editor for Parade Magazine, and frequently writes for such publications as More Magazine and Real Simple. Her essays and short stories have been widely anthologized. An adjunct professor in the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program at Fairfield University. Her newest release is Two If By Sea.
