Behind the Words host Lori Hays is very excited to introduce you to two of the threesome behind the amazing new book Faded Diamonds, Mellissa Thomas and Camille Burke. This is a must read book for everyone. Though fictional, this gives a realistic view into the world of social workers, mental health issues and the terrifying reality plaguing the sexually and physically abused young women.

About the book:

The Godhand Women’s Home houses two hundred of South Florida’s most desperate young women, and what begins as Leila Sudders’ refuge from her turbulent past quickly becomes a distorted mirror of her own darkness, so she does what she does best as she awaits her child’s birth: close up.

But despite her waning efforts, her toughness carves a path of treacherous consequence that collides with four other equally desperate women at the home, including a missionary counselor who fights tooth and nail to offer the others hope.

About the authors:

Camille Burke is an MSW social worker that has experience as a clinician, medical social worker, medical case manager, counselor, and outpatient therapist. She is also an entrepreneur with a business mind and social work heart that motivated her to start CFB Solutions, a social service agency.

Mellissa Thomas is a Jamaica-born author and freelance writer. She’s a decorated U.S. Navy veteran with Entertainment Business Masters and Film Bachelors degrees from Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL
